Post resolution, root cause analysis was performed and monitoring \/ alerting has been put in place to further mitigate the chances of similar technical difficulties from occurring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Original post:<\/h2>\n<p>Over the last few days some staff have encountered an intermittent error when attempting to add Quick Marks or comments, using the Turnitin Feedback Studio.<\/p>\n<p>A &#8216;Save Error&#8217; message is displayed as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/files\/2018\/02\/Turnitin-503-error.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3629\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/files\/2018\/02\/Turnitin-503-error.png\" alt=\"Turnitin 503 error\" width=\"640\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This issue is affecting users at other institutions, and Turnitin are aware of the problem.\u00a0At present, Turnitin have not been able to give us an indication of how quickly the error can be resolved.<\/p>\n<p>If you experience this issue, please\u00a0log a support call \u00a0via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uor.topdesk.net\/tas\/public\/login\/form\"><strong>IT Self-Service portal<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When doing so,\u00a0please provide details of<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Blackboard course<\/li>\n<li>the Turnitin assignment name<\/li>\n<li>the Turnitin paper ID for a paper where this occurred<\/li>\n<li>what kind of computer are you using &#8211;\u00a0Windows\u00a0or Mac?<\/li>\n<li>which browser are you using?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is also worth <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/2016\/12\/09\/suggested-solutions-if-you-encounter-any-issues-when-marking-in-turnitin-feedback-studio\/\">clearing your browser cache<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; this may not prevent the problem from recurring, but should delay its reappearance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Please note:<\/h3>\n<p>If you are simply having trouble viewing or editing previously entered comments and Quick Marks, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/2018\/02\/02\/turnitin-feedback-studio-unable-to-view-or-edit-quick-marks\/\">our recommendation is to switch to the Firefox browser<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However\u00a0the &#8216;Save Error&#8217;
