Direct transfer of marks between Blackboard and RISIS (EMA ..."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post contains information aimed at Module Convenors and academic staff involved in overseeing assessment in modules on Blackboard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The integration of assessment information between RISIS and Blackboard is scheduled to <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>go live<\/strong><\/span> on <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Thursday 3rd January 2019<\/strong><\/span>. It applies to&nbsp;all <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>summative assessments<\/strong><\/span> with a <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>due date of Friday 1st February or later<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What is EMA Integration?<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Integration will <strong>increase the accuracy and efficiency<\/strong> of assessment administration:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Sub modular marks<\/strong> that are recorded in Blackboard for summative assessments will be <strong>transferred directly to RISIS&nbsp;<\/strong>by Programme Administrators (This includes marks for Turnitin assignments.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Assessment information held in RISIS<\/strong> will be used to <strong>automatically set up Blackboard&nbsp;assessments<\/strong> e.g. Blackboard assignments, blogs, journals and wikis. (This excludes the set up of Turnitin assignments. Programme Administrators will continue to set these up manually.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What does it mean for academic staff?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There&nbsp;are <strong>no changes for academic staff in how assessments are marked<\/strong>. Your <strong>Programme Administrators will handle all of the Integration processes<\/strong>. Your <strong>Support Centre has&nbsp;been briefed and trained<\/strong>&nbsp;for the introduction of EMA Integration, and continued support will be provided by&nbsp;EMA staff and the TEL team.<\/p>\n<p>Please continue to <strong>provide your Programme Administrators with the details of your assessments<\/strong> for the coming term to allow them to automate the technical administration of the assessments in Blackboard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What will I see in Blackboard?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you enter the <strong>Grade Centre<\/strong> for your module, you will see <strong>columns&nbsp;that allow marks to be transferred<\/strong> into RISIS. The titles of these are prefaced with [IC].&nbsp;<strong>Do not edit or delete these<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>some assessment types<\/strong>, integration will <strong>automatically set up the submission point<\/strong> along with the column in the Grade Centre. These are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blackboard Assignments,<\/li>\n<li>Blackboard Blogs, Journals &amp; Wikis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These assessments will always be <strong>set up in the section&nbsp;called &#8216;Assessment&#8217; in the course menu<\/strong>. It is essential that you <strong>do not move or copy these<\/strong> to another area in the course.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>If your Blackboard courses do not currently use a course menu item called &#8216;Assessment&#8217;<\/strong> as the location for assignment submissions, we recommend renaming the existing submission area to &#8216;Assessment&#8217;.
