Plenished with a plethora of Blackboard freebies, our mission (which we chose to accept) was to distribute as many of our advisory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bb.reading.ac.uk\/bbcswebdav\/xid-4571056_4\" target=\"_blank\">postcards<\/a> and talk to as many new students about accessing Blackboard as we could. As the doors were opened (or, more precisely, unzipped!), fresh-faced students flooded in to an expectant arena to select their modules and chat with staff from a range of the university&#8217;s support services.<\/p>\n<p>We all thoroughly enjoyed meeting and advising our attentive students about how to log in, when they&#8217;d see their modules and where to find help. It was a perfect opportunity to also alert them to the new Blackboard Student app (coming soon!) which will give them anywhere\u00a0and any time\u00a0access to their course materials via their mobile devices. We were encouraged to find that many of the\u00a0students were already aware\u00a0of Blackboard\u00a0and keen to find out how to access it.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_533\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-533\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/files\/2015\/09\/Nicky.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-533\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/files\/2015\/09\/Nicky-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Nicky McGirr picks the winners\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-533\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nicky McGirr (CQSD) draws the winners of the TEL Module Fair prize draw<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Needless to say, given the weather, our free Blackboard brollies were a great hit and were quick to go! We&#8217;d like to think students were attracted to our stand by our wit and charm, but who are we trying to kid? It was our lottery for eight free \u00a310 iTunes vouchers (kindly donated by Blackboard) that proved the main attraction!
