This will affect how the marking process is handled and what you can see.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Turnitin Assignment only:<\/strong> Check if the \u2018<strong>Turnitin Assignment by Group<\/strong>\u2019 option is being used to allocate assignments to markers. This will let you that easily find it again to continue editing the mark or comments.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\">The <strong>Blackboard marking session for an assignment expires after one hour<\/strong>, so remember to save your feedback and comments before the session times-out.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bb.reading.ac.uk\/bbcswebdav\/institution\/Services\/CQSD\/TEL\/Guides\/Staff\/Marking%20a%20Blackboard%20assignment%20online%20using%20Blackboard%E2%80%99s%20in-built%20tool%20%28Inline%20Grading%29.pdf\">Marking a Blackboard assignment online using Blackboard\u2019s in-built tool (Inline Grading)<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\" width=\"601\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><em><strong>Anonymous marking<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\">Make sure you only <strong>grade the last attempt <\/strong>a student has made.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the assignment submission has been set-up to allow multiple attempts, <strong>all of the attempts are shown separately<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>When you have an assignment open, you can <strong>see if there are other attempts by the same student in the right-hand Grading panel<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\"><strong>If staff want to see the marks given for the assignment in the Grade Centre column after marking is completed<\/strong> but before the 15 day turnaround has been reached, then it is possible to lift anonymity without affecting the release of marks to students.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\">See how to disable anonymous marking in the Blackboard Assignment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bb.reading.ac.uk\/bbcswebdav\/xid-4392316_4\">How to mark anonymously guide.<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\">If you need to <strong>mark anonymously and this has not been set up on your assignment<\/strong> (and students have already submitted their assignments), you can mark work using the \u2018Grade with Usernames Hidden\u2019 option in the Grade Centre as a workaround.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bb.reading.ac.uk\/bbcswebdav\/xid-4702704_4\">Grading with Usernames Hidden<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\">If you want <strong>to download anonymous assignments<\/strong> <strong>to mark offline<\/strong>, you will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Record the attempt ID on the downloaded printed file,<\/li>\n<li>Record the attempt ID in the Grading Notes for the online assignment.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the marking process before anonymity is lifted if you intend to provide feedback online.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These actions are required as the attempt ID is removed when anonymity is lifted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\">If <strong>marking and the return of feedback is paper-based<\/strong>, you can choose to remove the \u2018mark anonymously\u2019 setting for the assignment.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\">Check with the module convenor or SDTL before changing anonymous marking settings.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><em><strong>Turnitin<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\"><strong>Advice<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><strong>Support and resources<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\"><strong>Always edit the mark for an assignment in the Turnitin document viewer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marks are only sent to the Grade Centre from Turnitin. If a mark for an assignment is changed in the Grade Centre this <u>will not<\/u> change the mark shown on the paper in Turnitin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\">We recommend <strong>accessing assignments from the Turnitin Inbox<\/strong>.Go to your module &gt; <strong>Control Panel &gt; Course Tools &gt; Turnitin Assignments<\/strong> &gt; click on the title of the assignment.Click the <strong>\u2018Roster Sync\u2019<\/strong> link if you don\u2019t see all of your students listed in the Turnitin Inbox.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.me\/P6kHTL-bQ\">Use Roster Sync to show all of the students in a Turnitin assignment<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\"><strong>Do not have the same individual student\u2019s assignment open in different browsers<\/strong> <strong>or computers (or iPad app) at the same time.\u00a0<\/strong>This can result in Turnitin behaving unexpectedly and the loss of any feedback entered.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"348\"><strong>GradeMark will time-out after 30 minutes of inactivity<\/strong>. &#8216;Inactivity&#8217; means not pressing on any buttons within the document viewer.\u00a0<strong>Note<\/strong>: Typing into the General Comments box or scrolling up and down to read an assignment <strong><u>is not<\/u><\/strong> detected as \u2018activity\u2019.<\/td>\n<td width=\"253\">Unless the session has timed out, feedback, comments and marks are automatically saved as they are entered. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rubrics &amp; Grading Forms<\/li>\n<li>Comments placed directly on to the paper (e.g. QuickMarks)<\/li>\n<li>Feedback entered in the <strong>General Comments<\/strong> <strong>moderator needs to see the spread of marks given to the assignments<\/strong>, you can use the \u2018View Grade History\u2019 option to view all of the marks by Attempt ID.\u2018View Grade
