{"id":8652,"date":"2021-05-14T12:07:02","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T12:07:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/?p=8652"},"modified":"2021-05-14T15:30:32","modified_gmt":"2021-05-14T15:30:32","slug":"blackboard-course-rollover-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel\/2021\/05\/14\/blackboard-course-rollover-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackboard Course Rollover 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Course rollover is the annual process whereby Blackboard courses from the current academic year are copied for use in the next academic year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Rollover for 2021 is scheduled to take place on Saturday 3rd July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As usual,\u00a0<strong>Blackboard will be unavailable<\/strong>\u00a0to users while the key rollover tasks are in progress, from 08:00 to approximately 17:00 BST.<\/p>\n<p>There are no changes to the\u00a0Course Rollover\u00a0process this year.<\/p>\n<p>The default position is that\u202fany RISIS module or\u00a0programme<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>which was used in Blackboard in the current academic year (i.e. in 2020\/21)<\/li>\n<li>and is scheduled to run again in the new academic year (i.e. in 2021\/22)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>will be automatically copied forward.<\/p>\n<p>The vast majority of Blackboard courses normally fall into this category, and\u202fno action is required\u202ffor these courses to be rolled forward.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Module Convenors:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Just to be absolutely sure, please check\u00a0that your module is listed on\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/blackboard\/bbcopy\/Home\/Status\">Course Copy Status page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/08\/17\/course-rollover-requests\/#merged\"><strong>Merged and Supplementary courses<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are also copied as part of Course Rollover.<\/p>\n<p>Again, if you are responsible for one of these courses in Blackboard,\u00a0please check\u00a0that\u00a0it\u00a0is listed on\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/blackboard\/bbcopy\/Home\/Status\">Course Copy Status page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For full details\u00a0of Course Rollover, and what actions are required,\u00a0please see the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/08\/17\/course-rollover-requests\/\"><strong>Course Rollover page on the TEL staff help site<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On this page you\u2019ll find information about:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/08\/17\/course-rollover-requests\/#optout\">Opting out\u00a0of Rollover<\/a>&#8211; cancelling a scheduled course copy,\u00a0for instance if you want to completely redesign your Blackboard course for\u00a0next academic year.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/08\/17\/course-rollover-requests\/#module-not-run\">Modules which are running next year, but did not run in 2020\/21<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/08\/17\/course-rollover-requests\/#new\">Brand new modules<\/a>running for the first time.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2018\/08\/17\/course-rollover-requests\/#what_copied\">Which parts of your course will be copied as part of Rollover<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Deadline for action<\/strong><\/span>: To be included in the main Rollover process\u00a0at the start of July, <strong><u>all requests should be submitted by close of play on Friday 25th\u202fJune<\/u>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will send further reminders as the deadline approaches.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any queries\u00a0about how rollover affects your course, please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uor.topdesk.net\/tas\/public\/login\/\">log a Service Desk ticket<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Course rollover is the annual process whereby Blackboard courses from the current academic year are copied for use in the next academic year.
