Today (Thursday 20 May 2021) is the 10th Global Accessibility Awareness Day<\/a> (#GAAD). Designing learning that is inclusive and accessible to all students is\u00a0crucial\u00a0<\/span>in helping everyone\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0to fully engage and fulfil their pot<\/span>ential.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Not only that but d<\/span>esigning in a way that actively benefits people with\u00a0disabilities\u00a0<\/span>improves the experience for everyone<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and promotes an\u00a0<\/span>inclusive and supportive environment<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in your virtual and physical classrooms.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Here we highlight\u00a0<\/span>three areas of focus to help you design your teaching to be as accessible as possible to all your students:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Accessible Teaching Materials<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Providing your students with a variety of materials to engage with content helps to\u00a0<\/span>diversify access<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>maintain engagement<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The\u00a0<\/span>resources you supply to your students<\/span><\/a>\u00a0may pose unique challenges to disabled and neurodiverse learners. Implementing these changes hugely improves their experience and benefits non-disabled learners, too:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
