The 'reporter' mode is worth trying, it places the presenter's silhouette in front of the presentation, allowing you to direct people toward points of information with hand gestures. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/roadmap?filters=&amp;searchterms=83371\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Learn more.<\/span><\/a><\/p><p><b style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">2. Temporary attendee status<\/span><\/b><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\" data-contrast=\"auto\">: This isn't really a feature but a change to participant permissions, to ensure the end of a meeting really does mean 'the end'. When joining a<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2020\/09\/17\/setting-up-interactive-sessions-in-microsoft-teams\/\"> live online session,<\/a> students will see a 'temporary' attendee status next to their display name; when leaving the meeting, \u00a0they will see a read-only chat history<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.reading.ac.uk\/tel-support\/2020\/09\/17\/setting-up-interactive-sessions-in-microsoft-teams\/\">.<\/a>\u00a0Participants with a 'temporary' attendee status cannot access meeting assets once the session has ended, so please ensure you continue to use Blackboard for provision of learning materials used in your session.<\/span><\/p><p><b style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">3. Breakout room timers:<\/span><\/b><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0px\" data-contrast=\"none\"> You can set timers for breakout rooms! For example, students can adjust slide colour contrast or translate slide text as you present. Tiled and Speaker view<\/strong><\/h3><p>Tiled and Speaker views emphasise who is speaking. These views show up to 4 videos with one video larger than the others. This larger video shows who is speaking so you can see them more clearly. As the discussion unfolds, the larger video changes to match the active speaker.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Video#tiled-and-speaker-views_OTP-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more.<\/a><\/p><h3><strong>3. Pin videos<\/strong><\/h3><p>You and students can 'pin' a another person's video feed, it moves the video to the top of the list and anchors it there. It doesn't change the number of videos you see, just the order you see them in. Useful if you want to keep a close eye on particular students, or for students who want to stay focused on the instructor camera feed, see their study buddies or follow a sign language interpreter,\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Video#pin-videos_OTP-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">See more<\/a><\/p><h3><strong>4. Whiteboard (new features)<\/strong><\/h3><p>The new whiteboard provides better formatting, usability, and annotation persistence (meaning you can save the annotations!). Attendees annotate on a session whiteboard or shared file. <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Share_Content#edit_tools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more.<\/a><\/p><ul><li>Formatting now includes pencil thicknesses, fonts and font sizes, shapes with colour fill, arrows, and more.<\/li><li>It is possible to copy and reuse elements, such as pasting text.<\/li><li>You can now erase part of the annotations or clear all.<\/li><li><span class=\"emphasize\">Whiteboards can now be used with breakout groups, for example,<\/span> you can annotate a file in the main room and then share it with the breakout groups, including annotations. You can also bring a breakout group's own annotated file into the main room together with its annotations.<\/li><li>\u00a0Annotations made to the whiteboard, or on a file, are saved in the session.<\/li><li>If you require a multi-page whiteboard, simply create a blank file of several pages and share it during the session.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"note\"><em>*The new whiteboard doesn't include a pointer, but you can easily draw your own (arrow, dot) and move it around easily.<\/em><\/p><h3><strong>5. Modified menus for viewing participants<\/strong><\/h3><p>It is useful to keep the attendees panel open at all times; at-a-glance you see students with their hands raised, their status and if their mic is turned on. From the attendee panel, you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Manage_Attendees#attendee-controls_OTP-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"interface\">Attendee Controls<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to send individuals a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Chat#private_chat\">private chat<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Manage_Attendees#promote\">promote a participant<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Manage_Attendees#mute\">mute the attendee<\/a>, or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Manage_Attendees#remove\">remove the person<\/a> from the session. Additionally, you can access 'pin video' and 'send chat' from attendees camera feed or profile picture. <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Manage_Attendees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more.<\/a><\/p><h3><strong>6. Share files to breakout group<\/strong><\/h3><p>When requiring students to collaborate in smaller groups, it is useful to display the task instructions within their breakout rooms. <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Breakout_groups#share-files-to-breakout-groups_OTP-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more<\/a> or watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/hf5AlhIOFzs\">video about breakout groups<\/a>.<\/p><h3><strong>7. Blackboard groups integration with breakout rooms (new)<\/strong><\/h3><p>You can now use your existing Blackboard group sets to create Collaborate breakout groups in advance, and save time during live interactive sessions. With the Collaborate and Blackboard groups integration, students can stay in their same group from session to session. During the Collaborate session, the facilitator can also adjust groups as needed, for example, to balance group numbers among attendees.<\/p><p>When you\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Moderator\/Moderate_Sessions\/Breakout_groups#start\">start a breakout group<\/a>, go to the\u00a0<span class=\"interface\">Assign Groups<\/span>\u00a0menu and select\u00a0<span class=\"interface\">Course group set<\/span>.
