Group work
Group work is a powerful way of embracing diversity and inclusivity within the curriculum. It encourages students to combine their individual strengths and skills to complete more challenging and complex tasks than they could accomplish individually. Learning is, therefore, deeper and problem-based learning more successful.
In addition, working as part of a team prepares students for the workplace by developing social and communication skills and it also provides opportunities to engage in research and enquiry.
However, because effective group work does not happen automatically, careful thought has to be given when planning and designing group work and group assessment.
The links and resources on this page will help you when considering the use of group work and group assessment.
