Why is assessment literacy for staff important?
The assessment literacy of academic staff is paramount. Our approach would value professional judgement and recognise that academic standards cannot easily be made transparent. On the other hand, confidence in that judgement would be boosted by introducing consistent methods to share and safeguard these, often tacit, standards.(The Higher Education Academy, 2012, p. 17)
- How do programme teams build an understanding of assessment mapped across a programme?
- How do they build up a shared understanding of the graduate attributes and how are these assessed across the programme and how is progression ensured?
When considering how to develop staff assessment literacy, it is important to think about the needs of new team members, established team members, sessional and part-time staff, research intensive staff.
