The following accessibility features in YuJa can help you enjoy a more comfortable video experience.
Caption bar settings
The Captions bar settings allow you to customise the caption bar’s font, size, colour, as well as scaling and opacity.
- Hover over the settings cog icon in the video player:
- Choose Options to open the Caption bar settings:
- Here you can adjust the readability of the captions on the video. You can change the font colour, font type, and background colour. The sliders control the font scaling (the size of the captions), the font opacity (how see-through the font is) and background opacity (how transparent the background is):
Transcripts
You can download a transcript file from the video’s Media Player. Further information on viewing and downloading transcripts is available on our support page, View Captions and Transcript for a Recording.
Keyboard shortcuts
- To access the list keyboard shortcuts from within YuJa, click the Show Sidebar button in the bottom right of the video player:
- This automatically shows the captions and their timings
- Click on resources to download the transcript as a pdf
- Click on the keyboard icon to the bottom right of the options box to open a list of keyboard shortcuts:

Audio description
If a video has an audio description added, you can toggle this on from the Media Player Options.
YuJa mobile app
The YuJa Video app for iOS and Android allows you to access content within Reading’s Video Platform instance, including content in folders and course channels.
