Blackboard Content Collection: My Content

Introduction

This article concerns the My Content area in Blackboard.

Users’ ability to upload files to this area was removed in October 2021.

The Blackboard Content Collection houses all the files which staff upload to courses and organisations. There is also an area for each Blackboard user labelled ‘My Content’. This was quite innovative when first introduced a dozen or more years ago, but is now largely redundant, since all students and staff have access to a massive amount of personal storage in OneDrive.

From October 2021 you have no longer been able to upload new files to your My Content area.

You will still be able to

  • Delete files from My Content.
  • Edit the sharing permissions on existing content – for example, if you had shared a file with other users, you can remove these permissions.
  • Download existing content.

If you do have content in My Content, you may want to move it elsewhere in Blackboard, to OneDrive or Teams, and then delete it from Blackboard.

How do I find My Content?

Go to Tools on the main Blackboard navigation menu, and choose Content Collection.
