Blackboard Guidance for NUIST

Use of Blackboard and Turnitin at NUIST

This guidance is for UoR staff who are teaching at NUIST and UoR Programme Administrators who are supporting e-assessment. It is relevant for 2024-25.

NUIST (Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology) has its own Blackboard system for courses delivered in Nanjing as part of the NUIST Reading Academy, which is entirely separate from the main University of Reading Blackboard platform. It is administered by staff employed by NUIST and Reading.

NUIST uses Blackboard Original.

NUIST’s Blackboard uses Reading’s Turnitin licence and is integrated into their system.

Support

Support for the NUIST Blackboard (Bb) is provided by the Teaching Affairs Office at NUIST.

Assessment

The NUIST Blackboard is not directly linked to the UoR RISIS system. The EMA Integration does not operate at NUIST.

From 2024/25, like at Reading, UoR Programme Administrators set up Blackboard and Turnitin submission points on the NUIST Blackboard.

Most of the same assessment tools are available at NUIST as in Reading e.g.

  • Blackboard assignments
  • Blackboard tests
  • Turnitin assignments (NUIST Academy courses are covered by a separate sub-account of the UoR Turnitin licence).

Important: Differences in dates & times shown:

  • Blackboard Tests and Assignments show due dates in China time
  • Turnitin assignments display in UK time

For more detailed Blackboard guidance for Programme Administrators see the Blackboard Guide that was circulated internally. Please contact nuist-admin@reading.ac.uk if you do not have access.
