The Charlie Waller Institute’s self-funded courses are designed to equip students with both a theoretical grounding in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and the hands-on experience essential for clinical practice.
Our courses are perfect for clinicians looking to build upon their existing knowledge or add CBT to their list of skills. Accredited by the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), you will be taught by a range of national and international experts on CBT and other mental health interventions.
Students on both our Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate are provided with a great degree of flexibility to study at times and days that suit them. While our Flexible Training gives students the opportunity to choose specific modules according to their individual professional needs and working environments. In theory-based modules, students are able to able to study a wide range of disorders based on their own interests including OCD, phobias and body dysmorphic disorder.

Postgraduate Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies
Convened by The Charlie Waller Institute, validated by University of Reading, and delivered by Berkshire Traumatic Stress Service. This Postgraduate Certificate comprises three 20-credit modules; the Introductory module, the Foundation skills module and the Advanced Trauma module. Each module is assessed and must be passed for the Postgraduate Certificate to be awarded. Postgraduate Certificate in Evidence-Based Psychology
This part-time programme provides practitioners with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and develop skills which can be put into clinical practice. It can also be used to provide a foundation to further study in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and becoming an accredited practitioner with the BABCP. Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychology
With a strong focus on clinical experience, this year-long programme gives students the opportunity to learn the latest evidence-based psychological therapies and receive the training needed to apply for accreditation as a CBT therapist. Our Flexible Training programme enables students can attend specific modules according to their individual professional needs and working environment. Some modules hone skills and knowledge in a specific area and others cover a diverse range of disorders in less detail.
