Applying the T&L Framework to your discipline
The T&L Framework allows for adaptation within your context, ‘taking into consideration the varying needs of different Schools and discipline-specific teaching and learning practices’. Key aspects of disciplinary learning and teaching will be different from standard lectures and seminars and it may be less immediately obvious how to translate these to the new context.
The strategies you decide on will of course depend upon the requirements of your discipline, but you should begin with your learning outcomes and your disciplinary values. The following prompts may provide a useful starting point:
- How are the knowledge, skills, values and behaviours of your discipline enshrined in your working practices and learning outcomes?
- How can you provide students with opportunities to achieve these outcomes and engage in these practices in a socially distanced context?
- How can you adapt your working practices to the new context in a way that reflects disciplinary values?
