Supporting Successful Learning in Primary Schools/Secondary Schools are two ground-breaking courses, designed by Professor Helen Bilton, from the Institute of Education in collaboration with the University of Reading’s Online Courses team.
The courses draw on Helen’s 35 years of experience in teacher training and education, and features contributions from other UoR teaching experts, as well as teachers and pupils. These courses provide expert guidance for non-qualified staff in schools, giving them the knowledge and confidence to work more effectively in supporting and teaching pupils’ learning.
The courses will give support staff access to expert advice that is not otherwise available to them. Helen’s goal in developing this free, online course offer was to provide an accessible, interactive, and educational resource for support staff, where they can discover and discuss ideas and examples of good practice with one another. A range of activities were designed to upskill participants so that they finish the course feeling more knowledgeable and ready to try what they’ve learnt within their work.
FutureLearn is a digital social learning platform where participants can share their experiences, discuss ideas, and provide guidance to each other within the course discussions. We hope that the course will become a supportive community who can learn from each other along with the course experts.
Participants can learn in their own time, at their own pace, on any device with an internet connection. The course is 4 weeks, 3 hours study per week.
