Stroke Communication Assessment and Support
This clinic provides assessment and support for people with communication difficulties after a stroke.
What do we do?
We offer blocks of sessions at these times:
- October to December
- January to June
You will usually come for 6-8 weekly sessions.
The sessions are all delivered by student speech and language therapists, supervised by qualified speech and language therapists.
What happens in the sessions?
- We check how your communication has been affected (comprehensive assessment).
- We help you choose speech and language therapy goals that are important to you.
- We show you ways to practise speech and language therapy tasks and how to use apps or digital therapy.
- We may support you to use Augmentative and Alternative communication.
- We can also tell you about local and national groups that can help.
Who can come?
- Adults who have communication difficulties after a stroke.
- Are able to attend in-person sessions.
- Agree to work with students.
How to join or refer someone
Referrals are accepted from local Speech and Language Therapists or other healthcare professionals.
