On a Blackboard Learn Ultra course all the third party tools can be found in the Content Market page. These are tools that you would have access via the assessments or tools menu in Blackboard Learn original, Turnitin Assignment tool, Gradescope, YuJa, McGraw Hill, Maple TA and Talis.
For some of these third party tools are only available to departments who have a separate licence for that tool.
How do I access the Content Market?
There are three ways to access the Content Market in your Ultra course.
Add Content Menu
Step 1: Go to the point inside a Learning Module, or on the Course Content are, where you would like to add the third party tool.
Step 2: Hover over the dividing line until a plus sign icon appears. Click on the plus sign icon to open the Add Content menu.
Step 3: Select Content Market from the Add Content menu. The Content Market page will open.
Step 4: Select the third party tool you require.
Books and Tools link
Step 1: Locate Books & Course Tools link in the Details and Actions menu
Step 2: The Content Market page will open.
Step 3: Select the third party tool you require.
Content Editor
Step 1: In the Ultra text editor select the Plus icon.
Step 2: Select Content Market.
Step 3: Select the third party tool you require.
Content Market
At the top of the page there are links to some content providers. In the main section of the page under the heading Institution Tools are all the third party tools we use at the University of Reading.
Institution Tools
The Institutional Tools can also be accessed via Books and Tools in the Details and Actions menu on the right-hand side of the Content screen.

- Gradescope
- McGraw Hill
- Mobius
- Talis
- Turnitin
Accessibility Report
The Accessibility Report is a third party link to the Ally Course accessibility score page. There are two tabs, Overview and Content. The Overview give the overall score, a breakdown of types of content and highlights content that requires changes to increase the Ally score. The content tab lists all the content with number of issues and score results.
Gradescope
The are two Gradescope options, Gradescope (Course Link) and Gradescope Assignment.
- Use Gradescope (Course link) if you would like to add a link to Gradescope for staff and/or students in the Course Content. Click on the plus icon to add a Gradescope link to the Course Content.
- Use Gradescope Assignment if you would like to set-up and add a Gradescope Assignment to the Course Content.
Mobius – Maple TA
Maple TA is used by a small number of Maths courses, please contact the TEL team via it@reading.ac.uk for advice on how to use this link.
Talis
There are two Talis links, they have the same icon but different names: Manage Online Reading List (Talis) and Insert Online Reading List (Talis). Before using these links, see library guidance: Linking online Reading Lists to Blackboard Ultra.
- Manage Online Reading List (Talis) allows you to quickly access your reading list to perform administration (e.g. edit the list, download usage reports etc). Additionally, this icon is pre-linked in your Course template, to provide students with access to the reading list. If you require a secondary reading list, then click the plus icon to insert the additional reading list into your course content.
- Insert Online Reading List (Talis) is already linked in your course template. However, you can add additional links in your course content, for example, to link a particular section (nb. if you have already set up sections within your reading list).
Turnitin LTI Assignment
Turnitin LTI Assignment link will open the Turnitin set up page and add the assignment once created to the Course Content.
YuJa
There are two YuJa links: Videos (YuJa channel) and Insert Video (YuJa).
- Videos (YuJa channel) will allow you to access the media manager. Additionally, this icon is pre-linked in your Course template, to provide students with access to the YuJa channel for your Course, do not click the plus button to add it again to your course. See Guide: Ultra YuJa Video link.
- Insert video (YuJa) is the media chooser, clicking this icon will open your YuJa My Media area and allow you to select a video to insert into the Course Content. See Guide: Ultra YuJa Media Chooser.
- The media chooser can also be accessed via the Ultra editor, allowing you to add videos to Discussions, Documents, Announcements, Messages etc.
