Integration between RISIS and Blackboard will automatically create IC columns and Blackboard submission points in your courses. However, the integration will only run for modules which have been flagged as ready by an administrator in RISIS.

Flagging modules as ready
In RISIS go to Working with Modules > Modules Data > Flag Sub-modular assessment as ready for transfer to Blackboard.
On the next page, enter the code of the module you want to flag and ensure you are searching for the current year’s instance of the module.
On the next page, tick all occurrences of the module that you want to flag as ready for transfer. Once you have done this, click “Save”. You will see warnings noted in red text if there is information missing that would cause integration to fail.
Please note
- You flag a module as ready, not individual assessments.
- Once a module has been flagged as ready, any assessments which have all the required information in RISIS (e.g. due date and mode of submission) will be passed to Blackboard.
- If a module has been flagged as ready, but one of the assessments is still lacking some essential information, nothing will be created in Blackboard for that particular assessment.
What if I don’t have all the required information for an assessment?
Since flagging is done on a module level, not an assessment level, if you’re still waiting for details of one assessment, there’s no need to hold up the process for the module as a whole.
Once you do have the required details, such as Mode of Submission and Due Date, enter these into RISIS. If your module has already been flagged as ready, the new assessment will be passed to Blackboard immediately, without the need for you to do anything further.
If you are unsure of all the details for an assessment, it is better to leave those fields blank – it is much easier to enter the correct data later, than to update incorrect data which has already been sent to Blackboard.
When can fields be left blank in RISIS?
- RISIS assessments that rolled forward from a previous year – Points Possible and Mode of Submission fields will be blank, and can be left blank if you do not yet have this information. You will only be forced to enter details of the Points Possible and Mode of Submission if you need to change other details about the assessment (e.g. assessment title or weighting).
- New assessment records added to RISIS in the current year – You will be forced to enter Points Possible and Mode of Submission in order to save the record.
When adding a new assessment in RISIS, Points Possible will default 100 (for all assessment types apart from exam, which defaults to 0), but if necessary this can be changed at any time.
