Login to Turnitin UK
There are two Turnitin functions that are not available via Blackboard – Bulk upload and Quick Submit. For all other actions open your Turnitin submission points via Blackboard.
You will need to login using the email address registered with Turnitin. For most staff this will be your University username email, ab123456@reading.ac.uk for example.
Your TurnitinUK password will be different from your Reading account password, so unless you have done so previously, you should use the ‘Forgot your password’ option to reset it.

Once logged in, make sure that Instructor is showing at the top of the page. This will show you a list of all courses or ‘Classes’ you are registered for in Turnitin

Activate Quick submit
Once you’re on the TurnitinUK homepage, Activate Quick Submit by clicking on ‘User Info’ in the main navigation bar at the top of the screen. This will open a new page, where you should change Quick Submit from No to Yes. (alternatively see the Turnitin guide here)
If you can not see the Activate Quick Submit option, check that your Default user type is Instructor. You may need to come out of this screen for this to update.

Use Quick Submit
The ‘Quick Submit” allows you to submit a paper without the need for a student to be enrolled. Follow these three steps to submit a paper to generate a similarity report
Step 1: Click Submit.

Step 2: Customise your search
Once you click submit, the Customize your search pop-up will appear. Choose your search parameters, select “no repository” so that the paper you are checking does not get added to the repository.

Step 3: Upload your file
You will need to provide a “student” name (this does not have to be an enrolled student) for the submission and a Submission title.
Select how you are going to upload your file -Single File Upload or Zip File Upload.
Once the file is attached, click Upload. A preview of the file will appear, click confirm.

Step 4: View similarity report
Once you have confirmed the submission, a success banner will appear. Click return to Assignment Inbox.
The inbox will show your submission and the similarity score. Click on the similarity score to open the report.

Bulk upload
If you need to generate reports for a whole cohort you can create a zip file of all the submitted work and upload it as a bulk submission.
Follow the steps as above, changing Single File Upload to Zip File Upload from the drop down menu.
This will generate reports for each file.
