Marking with Rubrics

Key information

Rubric scorecards let you evaluate student work against defined criteria, rating each one on a scale.

Rubrics can improve consistency between markers and give learners a clearer picture of how their mark was reached, and how they could do better next time.

In the marking screen, rubrics appear as either a grid or a sliding scale.

How it works?

You can create rubrics at school, programme, module or assessment level. How you create one depends on the tool:

Blackboard: rubrics in assignments, journals and discussion

    Turnitin: rubrics and grading forms

    Gradescope: rubrics
