There are two ways you can record videos for Personal Capture in YuJa: directly in your browser, or using the desktop application (see guidance on how to install YuJa Software Capture).
You can access either of these from within YuJa, from Create Recording on the top menu.
You can choose which tool to use each time you record.
Whichever method you use, your recording will be saved in your YuJa Media Library.
Recording in the browser
The YuJa Browser Capture Studio offers a lightweight recording option without the need to download any software. This is ideal for quick recordings, where you have a good internet connection.
Before recording with the YuJa Browser Capture Studio, ensure you have followed our instructions for activating your YuJa account via a Blackboard Tool Link.
To make a recording in the YuJa Browser Capture Studio:
- Go to reading.yuja.com
- Sign in and click Create Recording at the top of the page:
- Choose Record with Browser Capture Studio. Enter a title for your video and press Start.
- Select your desired microphone, screen, and video settings from the options on the left.
- Choose Start Recording. Recording will begin immediately.
- When you’re finished press Stop.
- If you’re happy with the recording, choose Upload. Otherwise you can press Discard to try again:
Your video will begin processing and will be available in your My Media area:
Once a video is in your My Media area in YuJa, you’ll be able to make it available to students, staff, or other users.
Using the desktop YuJa Software Capture application
The YuJa desktop application offers a greater range of features than recording in the browser.
The application will need to be installed on your PC or Mac. See the DTS Knowledge Base article How to install YuJa Learning Capture Software Capture App (desktop).
Once you’ve installed the YuJa application, you’re ready to begin recording from your device.
Recording from the YuJa Desktop Recorder
Open the YuJa Desktop Recorder and sign in. The software icon looks like this:
- Select your desired microphone, screen, and video settings from the options on the left.
- Choose the red Record icon. Recording will begin following a three-second countdown.
- When you’re finished press Stop.
- If you’re happy with the recording, choose Save. Otherwise you can press Delete to try again:
- Your video will begin processing and will be available in your My Media area.
Once a video is in your My Media area in YuJa, you’ll be able to make it available to students, staff, or other users.
