There may be appropriate scenarios where you require anonymous posting and do not wish to be able to identify individuals. If you want to achieve truly anonymous posting, this is currently not possible through the Blackboard integration.
Instead, the following work-around is suggested:
- Adjust the share settings and add padlet to Blackboard via a link,
- Give instructions to your students, asking them to right-click the link and view via inPrivate or incognito browser.
To adjust the share settings:
- Open your Padlet → Share panel → Set ‘Visitors with a link’ to Writer,
- Ensure ‘Require visitors to log in’ is OFF (this should be OFF by default),
- Copy the url, go to your Course and add the Padlet as a Blackboard Web Link.

This setup will not display university account names (instead, it will suggest animal avatars or allow students to input another identifier). Please be aware, it is not possible to attribute post authors to university user accounts, and students will be able to pass the padlet link onto external users who can also contribute to the board (unless you change the permission to ‘no access’ after the activity).
Instructions you will need to tell your students:
- Right click the padlet

2. You will be given an animal avatar, and given the option to change how you would like to be identified on the padlet. All posts and comments will use this name attribution, if you wish to remain anonymous do not select Sign up or Login.
