Three decades since they first met at the University of Reading, over 70 alumni reunited at Whiteknights Campus on Saturday 1 July 2023. We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at their celebrations.
Dan Brown, who studied Geography at the University, was one of the organisers of the event. He shared how the reunion came about and what they got up to during the evening.
He said: “On 1 July, 74 alumni enjoyed a get-together at the Meadow Suite, Park House, to celebrate 30 years since we started at the University of Reading. We mainly knew each other from living in Wells Hall and we graduated around 27 years ago.
“We had a great group of people at University. Not everyone had stayed directly in touch, but most were either in direct contact with each other, or in contact through social media. Some people I saw at the reunion I hadn’t spoken to for 30 years and some I still spoke to all the time. It was a great mix and fantastic to see everyone again.
“The reunion was reasonably easy to organise. We enjoyed lots of drinks and an Indian buffet in the Meadow Suite, which was very good. We had planned to celebrate our 25th anniversary of graduating University, but unfortunately COVID got in the way. We were very pleased to celebrate our 30th anniversary of starting instead.
“We thoroughly enjoyed seeing each other again and remembering our days on Whiteknights Campus many years ago. We all got very caught up in seeing lots of friends whom we hadn’t seen for ages and the reunion was a big success.”
