Construction Alumni Get-together

The University of Reading Construction Society Alumni Group held a drinks event in London to officially mark the launch of the group.

A group of friends at the Construction Alumni Group launch eventNigella Landrock, who graduated in 2023 with a degree in Construction Management, set up the group to provide construction alumni with opportunities to network and reconnect.

“I knew nearly everyone on my course thanks to group project work and social events, and thought it was a shame that these relationships are often lost after leaving university. I wanted to set up something official to ensure those connections continued.”

The Construction Society Alumni Group plans to hold several events per year and has also set up a LinkedIn Group to allow members to connect in-between events.

This event saw alumni reconnect with old friends and make new connections too. One of the attendees commented that it was “a really good idea to bring all the different years back together”.

Nigella said: “Students who attend join in with our casual conversations and get a genuine and honest insight into our jobs and companies, providing them a real view into the industry.

“It was a really successful evening and I enjoyed getting to see old friends and meet new people in the industry.”
