School tabs are unlikely to be supported beyond summer 2021. We encourage Schools to move towards the use of Organisations - often referred to as 'Briefcases' - to provide information to students at Departmental or subject level. Organisations have numerous benefits over Blackboard tabs, including * Visible in the mobile app. * Students can get notifications of new content. * Compatible with Blackboard Ally (so students can access content in a range of more accessible alternative formats). * Much easier for staff to manage.
The “School Tab” within Blackboard that is provided for a School to deliver important School or Department wide information and news.
The Tab for a School can be made up of several pages and different sections for different audiences e.g. undergraduate or postgraduate students. This information is updated and administered by staff within the School and the Student Support Centres.
Permissions to edit sections of the Tab are delegated and provided by one or more local portal administrators. All Programmes Managers and Senior Programme Administrators within the Support Centre have the Portal Admin role for the Schools which they support.
