Upcoming: EMA Symposium (#REMA18)

We are delighted to announce that the EMA programme is hosting a one-day EMA Symposium on online assessment for University of Reading colleagues on Tuesday 22nd May in the Meadow Suite at Park House. The Symposium will gather together an exciting range of colleagues to share good practice surrounding electronic submission, feedback and grading, and the use of new assessment data, with both academic and non-academic staff. The day will be invaluable for sharing information and for passing on knowledge! In the morning we’ll be looking at online marking for inexperienced users, a TEL led demonstration for new users, an open Q&A on assessment, disability and inclusivity, the use of marking tools for more advanced users, using new RISIS data to support pastoral care and making the very most of rubrics. Thursday 26th April, The EMA programme will be hosting an EMA Online Submission and Marking Introduction session, from 12:30 to 13:30 in Carrington 201. The key aims of the event are: -To provide an opportunity for academics to hear about the ways in which the EMA Programme is enhancing Electronic Marking and Assessment within the University. -To give academics an opportunity to hear how this will impact them and hear from our Early Adopters that have already been through the transition. -To give staff an opportunity to see examples of how the functionality of marking tools can help them. -To provide an opportunity for staff to ask questions regarding the changes. -To hear how processes within the support centres will change and provide greater clarity around roles and responsibilities. Wider Rollout: eSFG Briefing for School T&L Leadership

The eSubmission, Feedback and Grading (eSFG) Work Stream ran a briefing today for all Teaching and Learning Deans, Heads of School and School Directors of Teaching and Learning. The session was opened by Gavin Brooks, Pro Vice Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) before Emma Mayhew (Academic Director of EMA) discussed the aims of the Programme and broad range of programme deliverables. Adam Bailey (TEL Team) then explored some of the principles underpinning the eSFG work stream and the process that will be worked through with schools to support the wider adoption of online assessment, before Alan Howard (SDTL, SAGES) outlined their experiences as an Early Adopter School since the Summer of 2017. He highlighted some of the significant benefits felt by colleagues as well as a number of challenges and how the School has responded.
