Sign-up for online courses to train in Meteorology and Climate Science at University of Reading.
You will be supported by internationally-renowned academic staff in the University’s Department of Meteorology, the only dedicated department of its kind in the UK, which is ranked 4th in the world for Atmospheric Science.*
These courses are suitable for STEM students, graduates and academics, as well as professional meteorologists, environmental consultants, weather forecasters and climate risk managers seeking to improve their range of skills and knowledge. The courses may be suitable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for chartered meteorologists.

Each course is three months in duration:
- Fundamentals of Meteorology (September to December 2023) – deadline to apply is 10 September
- Statistics for Weather and Climate Science (September to December 2023) – deadline to apply is 10 September
- Tropical Meteorology (January to March 2024) – deadline to apply is 19 December
- Climate Services and Climate Impact Modelling (January to March 2024) – deadline to apply is 19 December.
Course fees
The course fees for the 2023-24 academic year are £500 per course for international and UK learners.
Competitive scholarships for 80% of the course fee are available for people from low income countries. For scholarships, apply by 20 August for the September to December courses and 30 November for the January to March courses.
