As part of the University’s Five-Year Travel Plan – our roadmap for promoting more sustainable, low-carbon travel options – we’re making significant improvements to electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across all campuses. You can read more about the Travel Plan here.
What’s New?

We’ve recently upgraded the public EV chargers at Whiteknights Campus SportsPark and Greenlands Campus. Additionally, we’ve installed four brand-new EV chargers at London Road Campus. These upgrades support our wider five-year Travel Plan and help to make low-emission travel easier and more accessible for everyone.
New Charging Provider – Amp EV

We’ve switched our EV charging provider from BP Pulse to Amp EV. This change offers a more user-friendly experience and improved consistency across our charging network. To use the new chargers, you’ll need to download the Amp EV app. Don’t worry if you forget – QR codes are clearly displayed on each charger to make it easy to access and use.
London Road Campus – Now with EV Chargers!
London Road Campus now features four EV charging bays:
- 3 bays available for public use
- 1 bay reserved for a brand-new Electric Vehicle Car Club vehicle, provided through Co-Wheels – coming soon!
This new car club vehicle will offer a convenient, low-emission option for staff and students who need occasional access to a car without the hassle or cost of ownership.
Why It Matters
These upgrades not only support our goals for reducing carbon emissions, but also make it easier for staff, students, and visitors to make more sustainable travel choices. Therefore, whether you drive an EV yourself or are considering one in the future, improved charging infrastructure is an essential step in supporting greener journeys to and from campus.

Let’s keep making progress toward a cleaner, more sustainable future – one charge at a time.
