UK Environmental Legislation
There is a wide range of environmental legislation that is applicable to the University. Sustainability Services manage a legal register to document and evaluate relevant legislation to ensure the University remains compliant with all applicable legislation and other requirements. The GOV.uk website provides information about environmental legislation at www.gov.uk/topic/environmental-management
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Assessment Method)
Is a building assesment using scientifically-based sustainability metrics and indices that covers a range of environmental categories. Its categories evaluate energy and water use, health and wellbeing, pollution, transport, materials, waste, ecology and management processes. Buildings are rated and certified on a scale of 'Pass', 'Good', 'Very Good', 'Excellent' and 'Outstanding'.
