Walking to the University

Walking is a wonderful form of travel. There is no better way to get to where your going whilst keeping fit, exploring the local area and (requiring no fuel or equipment) being truly carbon neutral!

Our campuses in the Reading area are within easy walking and cycling distance from local stations. Below is advice on how to reach both main entrances to our Whiteknights campus (at Shinfield Road and Earley Gate), our London Road campus and our Greenlands campus in Henley-on-Thames. For each image you can;

  • With the station behind you, turn towards the statue of Edward VII and proceed into Station Road
  • At the crossroads, turn left into Friar Street towards the old town Hall
  • Bear right into Market Place, with the Post Office on your left, follow the road past Lloyds Bank
  • At the junction with Kings Road, cross over into Duke Street, crossing the canal with the Oracle centre on your right
  • Proceed straight into London Street, following signs for UoR
  • Turn first left into London Road, then first right into Kendrick Road
  • At the top of the hill, turn left into Christchurch Road
  • At traffic lights follow the main road into Shinfield Road
  • The Whiteknights campus entrance is on your left. Postcode RG6 6UR.

  • Turn left onto Wilderness Road (B3350)
  • Turn right onto Whiteknights Road
  • The Earley Gate entrance is on your left. Postcode RG6 7BE.

  • Leaving from Henley-on-Thames train station, turn left onto Thames Side and continue for 0.1 miles
  • Continue onto Station Road for 0.1 miles
  • At the junction turn right onto Reading Road and continue for 0.3 miles
  • This brings you into the centre of Henley. With the square on your left, continue forward onto Bell Street
  • The bus stop is on the left, marked bus stop D
  • You can catch the 800 or 850 bus; getting off at Hambleden, Greenlands stop
  • Continue forward for 0.1 miles
  • Entrance to the Greenlands campus should is on your right. Postcode RG9 3AU.
