Bus stop closures on Whiteknights campus over summer

Here’s an update on changes to bus services and routes for Whiteknights and London Road campuses over summer.

21a stops for summer on 8 June

A quick reminder that term time only bus service 21a will stop for the summer from Friday 8 June. Therefore the frequency of the bus service between Whiteknights Campus and the Town Centre will be reduced. Please check timetables on Reading Buses website.
21a will additionally run on 16 and 17 June for Open day. It will then start again for Welcome Week on 24 September.

Both bus stops on Whiteknights campus closed over summer due to works on Queen’s Drive

Queen’s Drive needs resurfacing so this work will take place over summer, closing the section near Whiteknights House starting on 18 June.
Vehicles will not be able to use the route so both campus bus stops will be closed during this time, between 18 June to Wednesday 1 August. For those seeking to use alternative stops please ensure you read the part below about bus stop closures on Shinfield Road. You are likely to need to use the stop at Christchurch Green rather than on Shinfield Road for part of the time.

From 2 August to 22 September, phase 2 of the works, the bus stop outside Whiteknights House will remain closed but the stop on Chancellors Way will reopen.

Please see the following staff portal article for more details of these works, maps and diversions: www.reading.ac.uk/internal/staffportal/news/articles/spsn-766055.aspx

Roadworks on Shinfield Road to close bus stops outside Whiteknights Campus in June

Gas works on Shinfield Road are likely to require the closure of the bus stops outside campus on Shinfield Road. The works were due to start on 28 May and last until 29 June, but appear to have been delayed again so are likely to run into July. Those wishing to use routes 3, 9 and 10 will have to walk to the next bus stops along Shinfield Road, or to Christchurch Green / Redlands Road depending on the required route.

Again please see the following portal article for more detail and suggested diversions relating to these works: www.reading.ac.uk/internal/staffportal/news/articles/spsn-766051.aspx
