After a gruelling 8 days of auditing we have once again maintained our ISO14001 and ISO50001 certifications!
We’ve been working hard to integrate the energy and environmental management systems. As a result, this has created a Energy and Environmental Management System – the EEMS – that is effective whilst still focusing on continual improvement.
The assessor’s feedback was extremely positive and resulted in the re-certification of the system for a further 3 years. The auditor praised the University, commenting that “This was an extremely good audit which has demonstrated that the University are operating a well-managed and effective system which meets the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 standards”.
The EEMS helps the University achieve its energy and environmental objectives by implementing a framework that embeds consideration of environmental sustainability into everyday business processes. This includes increasing the awareness of sustainability issues locally and globally, communicating and encouraging best practice, correcting and improving systems, identifying risks and opportunities, improving environmental performance, compliance reporting and monitoring and measuring.
Recognition and thanks go to those who have contributed to the continual improvement of the University’s environmental performance.
Our next surveillance audit will only be 4 days long…phew! Only 363 days to go!!
