Being an Academic Tutor

Book a place here. This workshop is for all current Academic Tutors, and anyone who is likely to take on an Academic Tutor role in the near future. The workshop, led by Directors of Academic Tutoring along with staff from the Centre for Quality Support and Development (CQSD) and the Electronic Management of Assessment (EMA) project, will explore the role of an Academic Tutor in practice, and the skills required to promote dialogic learning and to help you support your tutees to be successful at university and beyond. There will be opportunities for colleagues to share examples of good practice in academic tutoring, and the session will also provide a comprehensive overview of the new Student Progress Dashboard and how to make best use of this tool in student meetings to support tutees’ academic development. T&L Change Leadership & You

Book a place here. This session is for SDTLs, DDTLs, SDATs, DDATs, Programme Directors, Heads of Department and other staff in T&L leadership roles. It will provide an introduction to models of change, initiating and leading a programme of change, motivating and communicating change, and building a change leadership team. We will explore questions such as • What should successful change look and feel like? • How can I overcome widespread resistance to change and help others see a need for it? • How do I lead a process of change when I don't have authority over colleagues? T&L Essentials: Student Support & Engagement 2 (Policies)

Book your place here. This is the second of two sessions on T&L Policy: Student Support And Engagement - with a focus on policies and procedures. It is an introduction/refresher for School or Departmental DTLs, SDATs/DDATs, programme directors, staff involved in managing students within the Support Centres and any other school/departmental administrators. It provides an overview of university procedures relating to situations in which students find themselves in difficulty with their course, including: 1. student academic engagement and fitness to study, 2. fitness to practice. 3. extenuating circumstances, 4.
